Good Shopping
Old Navy has an additional 50% off clearance in stores, going on through Wednesday. I got Spencer a couple of pairs of pants for $3.50, and one was even $1.99.
Superstition Ranch had their taped bananas 5 pounds for $1 today. The regular price was $0.69. And, they were organic! Broccoli was 3 pounds for $1. Unfortunately, I only got enough for dinner tonight because it looked like it had seen better days. Red cherries were 3 pounds for $1, but I don't really like them. I much prefer the Rainer cherries that were $1 a pound.
Today is the last day that Albertson's has yogurt and candy bars for $0.27, so I'll be making a trip over there after the kids have rest time.

Sales
Fry's is continuing their "Buy 10, Save $5" sale - last week, they had the BIG boxes of Kellogg's cereals for $1.99 each (after the $5 off), and they are eligable for the $10 Kellogg's Fuel for School rebate. Check out kelloggs.com for details on that.
Albertson's has a whole bunch of coupons on the front of their ad - highlights for me are the $0.27 Dannon yogurt (limit 8), and the $0.27 M&M Mars candy bars (limit 6). Also, their milk is $1.39.
Safeway continues to be sparse with their great deals, and I didn't see anything I need at Fresh & Easy. My Basha's is now closed, but if you have one near you, then they have Top Sirloin Steak for $1.99 per pound. Fry's has it for $2.99.
I ran into WalMart yesterday for canning jar lids (they are about the only place you can get them any more...), and noticed that they had all of their plastic boxes on sale. They even had the big ones for $3.50, which is about half of what they usually are. If you need some, now is the time to get them.

Groceries, Goodwill, and Anne's Haircut
Update on groceries - Albertson's has General Mills cereals 2/$3, and in this past Sunday's paper, there was a coupon for $1 off of 2, which brings them to $1 each. And, when you buy 3, you get a coupon for a free gallon of milk. The best part is that Spencer's favorite (Cinnamon Toast Crunch) and Anne's favorite (Honey Nut Cheerios) are included!
Today was Goodwill Dollar Day - I got a couple of pairs of pants for Spencer, and a few shirts for each kid, but the best purchase was something that I actually paid full price for. I found a Guardian Serviceware Roaster for $14.99! I am so excited! It has the glass lid and the metal lid. These typically sell for $50 or more on eBay. Why are these so awesome? Well, they are cast aluminum and are very durable. They were made in the 1930's and 1940's. They just don't make cookware like that anymore.
Lastly, Anne got her first "big girl" haircut last night. We've been trying to grow out her bangs and the rest of her hair, but yesterday, just before Johnny got home from work, I was putting some things away when Spencer came running down the hall shouting, "Mom! Mom! Anne just cut her hair!" Sure enough, there were a few large chunks missing right on the side of her face. She tried for the next 30 minutes to blame Spencer for it before finally admitting she was the one who cut it. I have no idea where she found the scissors - they are hidden for just this reason! Anyways, I called my friend Blaire, who cuts my hair, in a panic. So we went over to her house, and she did a great job fixing it. It's a cute haircut, and the one section that's really short is easily hidden, but now we have to start over growing out her bangs. All in all, I guess it could have been much worse.

Grocery Ads - Quick Edition
So here's the quick version of the grocery sales that are starting today:
Fry's is running their Buy 10, get $5 promotion, which includes a lot of General Mills products, and back to school snacks. I assume they will have a list printed up of all participating products like they usually do, but I haven't been to the store to get one. Check bettycrocker.com, eatbetteramerica.com, and pillsbury.com for coupons that can be used with this sale, as well as coupons.com
Nothing at Safeway or Albertson's stood out to me, but I would suggest taking a quick glance through the ads to see if there's anything you're low on.
Now to Basha's - I am assuming most of you have heard that Basha's filed for Bankrupcy protection this week. The Basha's store that is closest to me is actually closing at the beginning of next week. The second closest one closed a few months back. So, in order to even get a Basha's ad to come up on their website (when you enter your zip code), I had to enter my Grandma's zip code in north Mesa. Blueberrries Anyone?
Yesterday was a good day at Superstition Ranch Market, even if they were out of cilantro. Some of the highlights were:
20 boxes (1 dry pint size, not the tiny boxes - about 10.5 oz) of Blueberries for $10. They had just come in and were priced at 2/$1! I couldn't believe it, so I stocked up. I like to use blueberries in my smoothies. (Back at the very beginning of blueberry season, when I was desperate for some and Superstition Ranch didn't have any in yet, I paid $0.99 on sale at Sprouts for the tiny 5.5 oz box. The big 24 oz box at Sam's club has been fluctuating between $4.88 and $7.88 all season.)
Strawberries were 2/$1 for the 1 lb. boxes. This isn't the best price I've seen all season (a few weeks ago, they were 3/$1), but they were good strawberries, and I needed more for my smoothies.
Bananas were $0.15 a pound!!! I couldn't believe it - I've never seen bananas this cheap. And the "taped" bananas (the ones that were over the hill) were $0.10 a pound. I knew I wouldn't have time to make banana bread for a few days at least, so I got the more expensive ones. I think I paid an extra $0.15 - well worth it.
Pineapple was $0.89 - not as good as the 3 free pineapples I scored at Fry's a couple of weeks ago, but realistically, how often does that happen? There are hardly ever coupons for fresh fruits and vegetables available. And it was a pretty good pineapple.
Red and yellow bell peppers - the same ones that go "on sale" at other stores for $1 were 6/$1.
Limes were 12/$1. A few weeks ago, they were 15/$1. I really, really like it when the limes are cheap because I love cooking with lime juice!
Mini Watermelon - $0.50 each. Spencer actually chose a "baby" watermelon over getting a piece of candy. Amazing!
Mangos were 3/$1, and looked pretty good. I need to go to Sam's Club, and get more salmon. I think we'll have salmon and mango salsa for dinner tonight...if I also stop by Fry's and get some Cilantro!

Better Late than Never
I'm excited to be back to normal grocery prices, and a normal grocery shopping routine. I knew this would be a good grocery ad week because of the 4th of July. I am finally reading through my ad's, and sure enough, they look good.
Definitely worth mentioning is that there is a Manufacturer's Coupon on the back of the Pro-Ranch ad for $2 off of your purchase of 3 12-packs of Coca-Cola products. Since this is a Manufacturer's coupons, take it to Fry's, where they have Coca-Cola 12-packs for $1.99 (limit 4). Buy at least 3 of them, and you'll end up with one that's free. I am so glad my friend pointed this deal out to me, or I would have thrown away the Pro-Ranch ad since I never shop there.
